It’s happened, but fingers crossed..

Ok, so the ‘O’ phase is over. Phew! Yes, you understood right, I am pregnant. But, at 37, and I know this is not out of norm in today’s world, but my gynie wants me “not to celebrate yet”..till 12 weeks are over and I’ve gone through the gazillion tests for anything and everything.

So, while I am not screaming from the rooftops, much as I’d like to, I’ve told few people – family basically. In India there is this hoo ha about letting three months pass and I have to say I don’t see any harm in that.

And yes, one more thing, I’ve developed asthma, apparently the lethal combination of pregnancy and air pollution (which Delhi is full of) can cause asthma and bronchial spams, and I’ve already experienced both. So am now on nebulizers, inhalers, the works. Also, I have a throat infection – fungal they say – could have happened because of one of the inhalers, so am also on antibiotics. Feel sacred thinking of all the medication and the baby… Sigh, it’s only been eleven weeks, the road ahead looks long..

But, having said that, I am happy, very happy. I know the coming months are going to be tough, since the breathing is only going to get more difficult, but I’ll deal with it. I am happy. Now I have something to focus on. It’s weird how human beings love to justify something and once they can, then they feel better. Now that I am pregnant I am not thinking about not working because I have this to think about – it’s what I was waiting for so that I could push that work date far into the nebulous future and try and forget that it bothers me that I will have been out of the workforce for centuries by the time the second one is born..

Anyway, this is the update from me.

Am trying to prepare her, and she likes the concept but not the changes! I can’t bathe her right now and she hates that!!

  3. Congratulations! I got pregnant at 39, and although the doctors warned me about all this stuff, everything turned out fine in the end. I did develop high blood pressure, and they thought I was prone to diabetes, and I got the flu three weeks before she was due, which led to an early delivery. However, the diabetes helped me to keep my weight down, and I opted to stay off the blood pressure meds – thank god, because it was all due to anxiety. The baby was healthy and delivered in less then 10 minutes. She is such a happy baby, but in the “terrible two” stage, which as you know is not easy, but manageable.
    I am happy for you.

Thanks! I am now over three months and am taking it very easy. Have developed asthma which docs say happens at times with pregnancy..hopefully it will pass..

I still have a long way to go, so am taking each day at a time..

  4. Heartiest congratulations 🙂

  5. Hey congratulations, but do take care of yourself. I had a missed abortion in the 9th week and it was very scary (my first child and I am nearing 32). We are trying again and I hope that the results are positive this time and the little thing is healthier.

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I am sure things will work out soon. Everyone told me that only when I relax would the baby happen and really, only when I said “heck, if it has to happen it will or not” did it actually happen. Also, a friend of mine just delivered at 40, last year she miscarried at 8 weeks..so don’t worry too much. Get your system in order, eat well, etc..

      Good luck..

  6. CONGRATS!!..this is great news!!

Everything will be fine…Take care…ALL THE BEST!:)
